Can one cracked tile be replaced?
Usually, yes. The cracked tile and the grout around it are cut out, the old setting material cleaned off, and a new tile set and grouted. The hardest part is matching the tile, so spare tiles from the original job are ideal.
Why do my tiles keep cracking?
Repeated cracks usually point to a problem underneath: a subfloor that flexes, a crack in the concrete below, or tile set without enough mortar coverage. Replacing the tile alone won't last until the cause is fixed. An uncoupling membrane can help; see what DITRA does.
Can you fix a leaking shower by regrouting?
Only if the waterproofing behind the tile is intact. Grout is not waterproof. If water is getting behind the tile, the lasting fix is to remove the tile and rebuild the shower with a proper waterproofing system.
Why does the grout in my shower corners keep cracking?
Corners and the joint where walls meet the tub or floor move slightly, so rigid grout cracks there. Those joints should be filled with a flexible, colour-matched sealant instead.
